August 2016

Well, summer is winding down, kids are looking forward to going back to school, (well maybe some of them). We have had an awesome summer and looking forward to a new church year coming up in September. The nominating committee has been hard at work, the budget committee will be meeting soon, in preparation for the new year. I too am looking forward with great expectation at what the Lord has in store for Ruddell Hill Baptist Church.

In August, we have several opportunities to minister and worship. August 13th, we are heading to Forrest City to help in a Block Party there. If you are planning to go, (and I hope you are), let Bro. Don Stewart know. We plan to leave at 7:30 AM and will return late afternoon. On August 21st, during our evening service, we will have The Poes in concert. We will be receiving a love offering to help in their ministry. I hope you will make plans to come and worship. August 28th, I plan to show the movie “War Room” in preparation for an 8-week Bible Study, “Battle Plan for Prayer”

On a personal note, our family would like to thank the church for all your prayers, love and support during our journey leading up to what will take place on August 2nd, the addition of Michael and Mary Lou, to our family. They have been a part of our lives for over 2 years and now they are going to be a permanent part of our family. God has blessed us with them and also a wonderful church family that has taken them and loved on them and prayed for them, and for that we are eternally grateful. These words seem so inadequate to express our thanks to you, our church family. Continue to pray for us as we move forward and grow our family. We love each and every one of you, and know that you love us too!

Looking forward to worshipping with you,

Your Pastor & friend, Bro. Tommy

Well here we are once again at Christmas time. Another year is coming to a close. I hope you all had a great time of Thanksgiving with your families and friends. We have a busy month ahead as we focus on our Savior’s birth.

As we always do this time of year, we will be shopping for the perfect gifts for everyone on our list. We will fight the hustle and bustle of others doing the same. Let us not forget the real reason for the season, and the best Christmas gift ever, Jesus Christ the Son of God.

Jesus is the best gift because…

  • He is what we really need most…John 4:10
  • He is better than we all really deserve…Ephesians 2:8-9. Romans 6:23
  • His gift cannot be earned or bought…Acts 8:18

If our greatest need had been information, God would have sent us an educator; If our greatest need had been technology, God would have sent us a scientist; If our greatest need had been money, God would have sent us an economist; If our greatest need had been pleasure, God would have sent us an entertainer; But our greatest need was forgiveness, so God sent us a Savior.  Source Unknown.

Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday!

What a great time we had in our revival services this past week. God surely blessed us. I want to thank everyone for all you did to make it a successful week. All the meals were delicious and the attendance was great. Continue to pray for the Fuller family as they make a transition to a new phase in ministry.

Once again we have a group going on the Acts 1:8 One Day Mission trip. This time we are headed to Greene County to minister. We will be leaving at 6 AM Oct. 3rd. Please pray for those who will be going. This is a wonderful ministry opportunity for churches all across our state to partner together in serving the Lord.

During October we are focusing on our Sunday School. I hope you will make every effort to attend every Sunday during the month. The 25th is set aside as High Attendance Day for our Sunday School. Each class will be asked to set an attendance goal and work to reach that goal. I would like to have someone give a testimony each week on what Sunday School means to you. If you would be willing to give a testimony one Sunday, please let me know.

Let’s continue to follow the Lord in our church and see what He will accomplish with us, through us, and for us.

Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday!

I am so excited about what God is doing here at Ruddell Hill. We had a great anniversary celebration. Many thanks to everyone who had a part in making the day the success that it was. We are blessed to have the Coldwell family come “back home” to Ruddell Hill. I know that they are a great blessing to this church and we will be a blessing in their lives.

There are several things happening in September that you will want to be a part of.

  • Several people have signed up for the Acts 1:8 One Day Mission trip on Sept. 12th. Pray for each one that will be going to Arkadelphia/Hope Arkansas on that day. If you missed the sign-up, there will be another Mission day on Oct. 3rd  in Greene County. Watch for details in our bulletin.
  • On September 19th, there is an “Old Time Gospel Singing” at West Baptist at 6 PM. This evening will be the same format as the Gaither Videos using local singers. I hope you will make plans to be there.
  • September 20-23, we will be having revival services with Evangelist Eric Fuller. Eric came and preached for us last year and is excited to be coming back again this year. Pray for revival and make plans to be at every service and invite someone to come with you.

Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday!
