February 2018

Well we are off to a great start in 2018. God has blessed Ruddell Hill Baptist Church in ways that are beyond words. I am so excited to be a part of what God is doing with us and through us.

As you know, we as a church voted in our January business meeting, to move forward with a building project for a new sanctuary. This is a God-sized task, and we must continually and fervently seek His guidance in this. We must also be faithful in carrying out His will for our church. God has led us to this point and He will lead us through. I am asking each of you to make it a priority to pray for our church. James 5:16 tells us “the effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”

Also, we are searching for a part-time Youth Minister for our church. Please pray that God would lead us in this search and help us to find the right person for this ministry.

Our valentine Banquet will be Feb. 10th at 5 PM. Our guest entertainment will be Glen & Leigh Anne Pool. Make sure you sign up by Sunday the 4th. This is going to be a great night of fun and fellowship, and you don’t want to miss it.

Loving serving together with you,

Your Pastor & friend, Bro. Tommy

We have several signed up to go to the North Little Rock and surrounding areas to minister in Block Party, home repair and maintenance, evangelism, & Nursing Home ministry. I am so excited for everyone who is going. We need your prayers for us and all from around the state that God will use us in a mighty way

Sunday 9:30 AM SUNDAY SCHOOL HIGH ATTENDANCE and services at 10:30 AM & 6 PM, Monday-Wednesday 6:30 PM. Tracy Archibald, from the state convention, will be our speaker and our worship will be led by Glen Pool from Cabot. We will have COTTAGE PRAYER MEETINGS on the 10th & 12th at 6:30 PM. We need at least 2 more homes to host a meeting. Let me know if you will open your home for one. After our business meeting on the 11th, we will devote the remaining time to prayer for revival.
  • ORDINATION SERVICE for David Coker, Larry Craig, and Shawn Craig to the deacon ministry on the 22nd at 3:00 PM. Pray for these men as they start this new chapter in their Christian service.
  • We are planning a church-wide HAYRIDE on Sunday evening the 29th. This will be a fun time and great fellowship for all.

You see why I am excited? I hope you are excited too, because God is up to something at Ruddell Hill Baptist Church. You don’t want to miss out!

June 2017

I want to say thank you for all the donations for the people affected by the flood in Pocahontas. We collected $347.90 as well as food items and cleaning supplies. The money will be used to help people be able to return to their homes. Bro. Eric Moffett, pastor of FBC Pocahontas, wants you all to know how grateful they are for your act of love.

School is out and we are getting geared up for summer. There are 3 associational camps: Day Camp for grades 1-3 is June 5-8, Children’s Camp for grades 4-6 is June 19-22, and Youth Camp is July 10-14. Information is available for each of these camps.

Vacation Bible School is right around the corner, July 10-13. Plans are being made, prayers are being offered up, and I am excited about VBS as always, it is a highlight of our church each year. We still need volunteers in several areas. We will have a VBS kickoff on July 8, 11AM-1PM, with water slides, games, food, and lots of fun. Please be in prayer for VBS. Pray for our director, Lori Craig, all of our teachers and workers, and especially the children.

Next Sunday evening, June 4th, we kick off our “Super Summer Sunday Nights” with Family Game Night and Finger Foods. Bring your favorite games and snacks and join us for a time of good fellowship.

Your Pastor & friend, Bro. Tommy

May 2017

Thank you to all who helped with the Easter Egg Drop. It was great to join other churches in our area for ministry. Each of you helped to make it successful. We may never know the impact that was made on the lives of everyone who came. Thank you for sharing Jesus through your love and time.

School is almost out, and with that comes graduations. We want to congratulate our graduates: Gloria Chavez, Southside High School; Hailey Hastings, Lyon College; Hannah Medley, Williams Baptist College; and Bethany Medley, UACCB. We will be recognizing them in our morning service on the 7th, and honoring them with a reception following our evening service. We are very proud of these girls and pray that God will continue to bless them in their futures.

I hope you are making plans to attend our Evangelism Training, May 6 & 7. Darrell Ray from the ABSC will be here to lead us in this training. If you plan to eat with us on Saturday evening, please sign up on the sheet on the kitchen counter. Saturday will start at 5 PM and Sunday will be during Sunday School and our morning worship time.

We are having another “Fish Fry!” Our resident fisherman, Lavon Pease, has caught a mess of fish and wants to share with us on Saturday, May 20th at 4 PM. Join us for this great time of fellowship, you’ll be glad you did.

Don’t forget Mother’s Day on May 14th.

Loving serving together with you,

Your Pastor & friend, Bro. Tommy

January 2017

Here we are at the end of 2016 looking forward with anticipation to 2017. We have had a great year filled with the blessings of God. We have had several new additions to our church, had several mission opportunities in Fort Smith, Forrest City, and Greers Ferry, and three from our congregation went to Casper, Wyoming to help Chris Sims and the Wind City Church. We have ministered to our community through our Food Pantry, Love’s Closet clothing ministry, Vacation Bible School, Block Party and Christmas Baskets. We generously gave over $3800 to missions through our Annie Armstrong, Dixie Jackson, and Lottie Moon offerings. We ministered in several nursing homes in the summer and 37 went Christmas Caroling in December to Woodlawn Heights and Wildwood Independent Living. All of this is possible because of our faithful service to God and to His church.

It is my prayer that our faithfulness will continue and we can do even more throughout the coming year. I want to encourage everyone of us to make God and His church a priority this year. Get involved in Sunday School, get involved in worship, join the choir, help with the children and youth ministry, volunteer in the nursery, help with our food pantry and Love’s Closet, find some place to serve in this new year.

Instead of resolutions (that we will probably not keep) let’s renew our commitment to God, and say as the prophet Isaiah said in chapter 6, verse 8, “Here am I! Send me.”

Loving serving together with you,

Your Pastor & friend, Bro. Tommy
